Jefferies thinks artificial intelligence will make workers more efficient and eventually lead to a four-day work week becoming the norm, according to a note from June 2023. Bank of America also expects the changing post-pandemic work landscape may result in a shorter work week. Opposition to change Opponents to a shorter work week, however, argue that such a change is both politically and economically unfeasible.

I'll discuss a bearish options hedge on a member of the chip sector that appears to be breaking down. Below is a 6-month daily chart of the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) , which monitors the chip sector. Among the semiconductor stocks, Micron (MU) stands out as a notable example. However, since securities can remain overbought for extended periods, it's important to wait for the RSI to dip below 70 before considering a bearish trade setup. The Trade Setup: The trade structure I am using here is called a "bear put spread" also known as "put debit spread".

The U.S. has passed a series of export controls starting in October 2022 aimed at restricting China's access to advanced chip technology, particularly those used in AI applications. According to data from tech consultancy Omdia, China consumes nearly 50% of the world's semiconductors as it is the biggest market for assembling consumer devices. But, soon after, it was reported that Nvidia was working on a new chip made for China. The company did not respond to a request for comment on their plans for the China market. An analysis of Huawei's Mate 60 Pro smartphone by TechInsights revealed an advanced chip made by China's top chip maker, SMIC.

The Securities and Exchange Commission's chair, Gary Gensler, recently warned about "AI washing," or companies giving off a false impression that they're using AI so they can amp up investors. And while some companies are simply exaggerating the tech they do legitimately use, others have taken it a step further. Most companies aren't being accused of breaking the law with their AI chatter, but they're definitely posturing around it. An analysis from Goldman Sachs found that 36% of S&P 500 companies mentioned AI in their fourth-quarter earnings calls, a record high. Even the Big Tech companies that are really moving and shaking in AI are on shifty ground at times.

The market may see a new wave of stock splits, creating another growth catalyst for a market that wants to keep rallying, according to Strategas. The median gain of a stock 65 days post-split is 4.1%, compared to the S & P 500's median 2.7% gain during the same period. Stock splits do not change anything fundamentally about the company, but they generally make shares more attractive to the retail trader because of lower prices. Here are the highest-priced stocks in the S & P 500 that Strategas thinks investors could benefit from if they split. Investors looking to bet on the artificial intelligence boom may want to take a look at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing , according to JPMorgan. Analyst Gokul Hariharan reiterated his overweight rating on the semiconductor maker, a supplier to chip majors such as Nvidia , Advanced Micro Devices and Qualcomm , saying that "all roads in AI semis lead" to the company. Within the next three to four years, Hariharan expects Taiwan Semiconductor to maintain its greater-than 90% market share of AI-connected processor silicon. By 2026, he forecasts the company's revenues can hit $119 billion, driven by robust growth in high-performance computing as AI training and inference demand grows. A solid setup for the company's 3 nanometer process technology for chipmakers such as Nvidia should also benefit revenues.
